The Essential Checklist for Launching an Independent Driving Business
Going independent is exciting and a bit scary. This is the checklist I ticked off before I launched my own driving school — use it so you don't miss a thing.
1. Sort the legal bits
ADI badge current? Insurance covering instruction? Dual controls fitted? Get these right first — they're the non-negotiables.
2. Build your website
You need a site that ranks locally and takes bookings. Mine went live in 7 days with the Starter Website. No site, no enquiries.
3. Claim your Google Business Profile
This is your free front page on Maps. Claim it, verify it, add your area and prices. The GBP setup does it properly.
4. Set up local SEO
So people searching "[town] driving lessons" find you, not the franchises. The Local SEO Foundation is the starting point.
5. Line up your first pupils
Run a small Meta ad and tell everyone you're independent now. My 10 strategies cover the rest.
6. Brand the car
A wrapped car is a moving advert. The Branding Pack gives you the identity for £199.
7. Get reviews flowing
Ask every pass for a Google review from day one. The Review Generation service automates the ask.
The shortcut
Tick all seven at once with the Independent Instructor Launch Package — it's everything above, built for you, for less than two months of franchise fees.
